Days 2 & 3

So my lack of caffeine headache has finally gone away.  I didn't realize how much I consumed and how stopping drinking it would really effect me.   Now that I am over the headaches I am feeling much more energized.  I'm attributing this to less carbs, no dairy products, and no processed foods.  All in all, I feel great today.

I've been taking a multi-vitamin but I am considering switching to a B12 vitamin and some kind of flax seed or omega-3 supplement.  I feel like I'm overdosing on certain vitamins with my current supplement.

Day 2 dinner (veggie burger on a wheat wrap w/ lettuce, tomato, and mustard + braised brussels sprouts):

Veggie Burger Wrap

Day 3 Afternoon Snack (way better then the usual soda and chips):

Coconut Water & Almonds

Snack Time

Dried mango slices make a good snack.

Day 1 - Dessert

So Day 1 is basically over. Not bad - it had it's high points and low points. I'm really enjoying the adventure of trying new things. Having someone along as support is extremely helpful.

Day 1

So this is day 1. So far, so good. Below is a run down of my meals. Right now it is 2:30pm and I am really missing the caffeine. I'd be a happy person if I could have a coke or some coffee. But I'm planning on staying strong and powering through.

Even though I am going to a BBQ tonight for Memorial Day, I'm thinking a salad is in the cards for supper.  That beer is going to be really hard to resist though.  I love holiday spirits.  Sigh.  On the upside, my stomach is not feeling so heavy after these 2 meals.  I don't miss that hardcore digestion that processed foods cause.

Granola cereal with soy milk and orange juice for breakfast.  I always have coffee in the morning so this was quite a change.

Day 1 Breakfast

Instead of having my 2nd cup of coffee I had seltzer water with a splash of orange juice.

Day 1 Coffee Substitute

For lunch, I cooked BBQ tofu on polenta.  It was surprisingly tasty.  I was never a huge fan of polenta but with the garlic and parsley I'd have it again.

21 Day Cleanse - The Introduction

My mom saw this program on Oprah last week.  We felt like taking the challenge.  I am a vegetarian and my mom is an omnivore.  I'd like to say this is going to be easy for me but I think giving up drinking for 21 days is going to be just as difficult as my mom giving up animal products.

Yesterday I went shopping to stock up on vegan friendly and gluten free groceries.  I was surprised how much food I got for the same amount as I've been spending.  I guess all that prepared and processed foods add up.  I'm already feeling more aware about what I am putting into my body.  The lack of bulky packaging on fresh foods is also noticeable.

Info:
"This Jump-Start Cleanse will eliminate sources of toxins and allergens, giving the digestive system a break from working overtime to process the substances that inhibit optimum performance the most. Again, increased energy, better digestion, and relief from various aches and pains (including headaches, muscle aches, and joint pain) are just a few of the known benefits."
